Blue Cruise Yacht Charters is able to customize itineraries to any guest's preference. We can maximize sun and exercise, and we can at the same time direct guests along Alexander's path down the coast of Asia Minor from Troy to Phaselis, or along Cleopatra's route from Perge up the same coast and among Dodecanese, Sporades, and Cyclades islands of Aegean Greece. We can put guests in the way of Saint Paul's maritime footsteps along Turkey's Ionian coast and among Aegean islands while returning from Corinth, or in his maritime footsteps along the coast of Asia Minor and into the Scattered Islands a prisoner en route to Rome. We can show guests the tracks of galliots captained by the likes of the Barbarossa brothers or of Turgut Reis, known as Dragut, and we can show guests the wake of innumerable galleys captained by one or another of the Knights of Rhodes called Hospitallers. One of these Hospitallers known to history was William Dawney of Cornwall and Devon, descended from William d'Aunay who accompanied Richard Coeur de Lion at the Third Crusade's 1191 siege of Saracen Acre, a siege itself encircled by Saladin's Saracen army. William Dawney was a baronet and Knight Hospitaller in 1444 serving at Rhodes under the English Turcopolier Hugh Middleton. A Mameluke Egyptian army of 18,000 had come ashore in June, devastated the island, and was besieging Rhodes Town. The Knight defenders numbered on the order of 400 and had perhaps 1,200 pikemen and arbalestiers in attendance. These formed outside of the walls one morning in August and at daybreak charged the Egyptian camp, routed the sleeping besiegers, and drove them back to their ships in which they fled. Weeks later Dawney again distinguished himself in command of four of the Order's great red-hulled black-prowed galleys sent to the relief of Alexandretta (Iskenderun) then besieged by a Karamanian force. Alexandretta, it might be noted, was a Silk Road terminus of some importance and Rhodes was home to maritime merchants as well as to Hospitallers. The Karamanians were routed and the Silk Road re-opened. One small chapter at the crossroads of history. Let us adapt your itinerary to the interests of your charter party.
