Flat-Water Sailing Holiday. Beautiful boat, beautiful part
of the world. We are very lucky to have been
able to spend these few days sailing with Gordon and Perran, and will remember them always.

Greek Island Hopping In The Dodecanese. With Gordon at the
helm truly a voyage of fascination and discovery that enraptures. I can't wait to do it again - wonderful
sailing. Mike Emery, Herzeliya, Israel, June 2008
Greek Island Hopping In The Dodecanese. This
was my fourth trip on the T.G. Ellyson. I particularly enjoyed the swim off the rocks at Tripani Island
near Leros and the 40-odd mile sail from Arki to Kos with winds gusting to 30 knots and 4-6 foot waves.
The first mate Perran is a great addition to the crew and a pleasure to be with. Gordon is a great
captain. Bart Gurewitz, Palos Verdes, California, June 2008
Greek Island Hopping In The Dodecanese. This
was my only sail of more than ten miles. The first thing I noticed was the beautiful condition of the yacht,
and within hours became aware of Gordon's love and knowledge of the culture and history of the region. Next
came confidence in the seamanship of both Gordon and Perran. Dining on board was wonderful while dinner
ashore in the evening with discussion of events and history made for a memorable experience.

Cruising Greece's Forgotten Islands In Saint Paul's Wake
So happy to have found this charter to finish out our honeymoon! The boat is beautiful and the company
divine. I had no idea what to expect having never been on a sailing vessel larger than a 2-person Laser. The
feeling of being a guest on the sea guided by the wind
was awe-inspiring. Much appreciated also was the professional competence of captain and crew, the private tour
of the best restaurants in nearby ports, and the relaxed enjoyment-filled lifestyle that made everyday a treat.
Much thanks! Cari Rosner Jelen, Berkeley, California, June 2008
Cruising Greece's Forgotten Islands In Saint Paul's Wake Great adventures, company, and food! Thanks for an outstanding honeymoon. You saved us
from the sirens in the knick of time, defended us not only from Jason but from all of the Argonauts, and
shared the treasure fairly. Thanks for the great times - no better way to spend a week.
Dov Jelen, Berkeley, California, June 2008
Cruising Greece's Forgotten Islands In Saint Paul's Wake Kate's microblogging transmissions: "Leaving Kos Harbor under sail. Oh my! How ink-blue is that sea.
Took the wheel for a few moments." "First Turkish coffee in Knidos, Turkey. Another Hellenistic theatre to
explore on hillside." "Tilos today. Best octopus salad and an ever expanding horizon of blue sea. Motorbikes
to the Monastery of St. Pandeleimon with a natural icy spring. Bliss." "Blue and white, blue and white ...
it's Greece." "Picking wild thyme by the roadside at midday. Cicadas going wild in the olive groves." "Where
else but Greece for tomatoes, feta, olives and thick black coffee for breakfast. Yum." "Sitting under the trees
at Ogun’s Place (in Ova Buku). Bonus: free wireless internet and great coffee." "Earthquake 6.3 on Richter scale
off Simi felt like a tremble on the boat. All safe." "Another Med morning with fresh baked Turkish bread just
delivered for breakfast. Mmm." "Write this down: must-go
places - Aurora Restaurant, Selimiye, Turkey." "Bozburun and 5pm. Must be time for Turkish coffee and honey cake
on the harbor." "End of the line.... Rhodes but no Colossus. Instead a fabulous medieval walled city."

Flat-Water Sailing Holiday. Gordon/Saime, We had an
enjoyable trip through some quite fascinating lands. Unexpected and pleasantly interesting people and places were
aplenty. Turkey has much to offer and I am sure is not well understood by many who view it through the eyes of
international media. T.G. Ellyson is a beautiful yacht and certainly pleasant vessel from which to see all these
remote areas. No doubt we will dig back into our ancient history books to reacquaint ourselves with some of the
people and places we were able to experience on the trip. The history here truly is venerable. Thanks for
making the trip enjoyable for our boys. Saime,
your hospitality was wonderful. Best Wishes, Ben, Mari, Bruce, and Alex Bowler, London,
England, August 2008
Flat-Water Sailing Holiday. I liked sailing. From Bruce (age 5).
Bruce Bowler, London, England, August 2008
Flat-Water Sailing Holiday. I loved sailing with you on the boat and
driving. Maybe we can go sailing with you again someday. (Translated for Alex age 4.)
Alexander Bowler, London, England, August 2008
Greece And Turkey At Once. Thank you so much for a fantastic week
of adventure on board the TGE. The hospitality, assistance and choice of locations gave us a memorable
experience in the scorching Turkish August. Both Gordon and Perran could not have gone further out of their way to
help us settle in. We might have to come back again to look for some of the things that we did not see so much of (dolphins and wind being the main two) but will both
remember this trip for a long time. John Knowles, London, England, and Barbara Campos,
Paris, France, August 2008
Greece And Turkey At Once. We had a delightful, memorable,
time aboard the T.G. Ellyson! Porpoises plowed our helm between islands and we received a genuine sheet-hauling
tutorial along the way. Sure, Gordon's a salty sea-captain who takes some warming to, but we wouldn't have it any
other way. His sailing acumen and historical perspective on both Turkey and Greece are truly remarkable. Perran is a
first-rate first-mate. If we could only cook like this at home. All told, a worth-every-penny adventure. Viva Obama,
Bobby Buka, New York City, August 2008
Greece And Turkey At Once. Please occasionally lift the lazarette
hatch behind the helm and throw a few crumbs inside - that's where I am - stowed away because I can't leave the T.G.
Ellyson! We had a great time and would definitely do it again, but next time with hairnets! Thanks,
Kara King, New York City, August 2008
Greek Island Hopping In The Cyclades. Great trip in all! Maybe a little
more sailing than I anticipated, but I must say....I will do this again. Thanks for taking care of us. We felt completely
at ease knowing you were in control, and we enjoyed your knowledge of the islands and their history. Viva Obama!!!
Jeff Houston, San Francisco, California, September 2008
Greek Island Hopping In The Cyclades. Gordon - You continue to maintain
the proud Ellyson tradition and you are a very-capable captain! We enjoyed all the sights. Personally, I particularly
enjoyed the sailing. The "Wine Dark Seas" were soothing (maybe a little less so when the wind was blowing 30 and 40
knots in the Cyclades, but never the less). Best Wishes in Derbyshire. Ian Moller,

Dear Homo Sapiens, There is no need to continue reading this page.
What follows is intended for search engine robots and spiders and not necessarily for human
beings. Further information concerning vacation travel in Greece and Turkey may be obtained by
clicking on the teal links immediately above. Thank You. You must be searching for a
yacht vacation in Turkey or for a yacht vacation in Greece. You may be thinking of a crewed yacht
charter in the Aegean or eastern Mediterranean. You may even be wondering where one begins and
the other ends, the Aegean and Mediterranean. If so, you might consider one of our yacht
vacations cruising the southwest corner of Turkey and neighboring islands of Greece. We can
show you where the one ends and the other begins. Were you to draw a line on a map joining the
Dodecanese islands of Kos, Nisiros, Tilos, Khalki, southwestern Rhodes, Karpathos, and Kasos
to Crete, well, you would have a pretty good idea yourself. These same islands excepting the
last three, it might be noted, were for more than two hundred years occupied by the
Knights of Saint John of Jerusalem. Always termed Knights Hospitaller from their origins
running a hospice in Jerusalem, they were during the years 1306-1522 also called the Knights of
Rhodes. Latin Christians, they had wrested control of Rhodes and other islands in addition to
those mentioned from a terminally ill Byzantine Empire, establishing unwelcome rule over a
"schismatic" Greek Orthodox population. They also established themselves on the
mainland at Smyrna (Izmir) in 1374, remaining until evicted by Timur (Tamerlane) in 1402, and at
Bodrum in 1407, remaining until 1522 when there and elsewhere sent packing by Suleiman the
Magnificent. Smyrna and Bodrum were at the time also populated in substantial measure by restive
Greek Orthodox natives still chaffing at the Fourth Crusade sack of Constantinople. This chaffing
by "schismatics" gave rise to several generations of sixteenth century Christian
sea captains in the employ of the Ottoman Empire. Called Reis, or Captain, by Turks, and called
pirate by Latin knights, Venetians, and Genoese, these sea captains took on the red-hulled,
black-prowed, galleys of the Knights as well as galleys of Venice and Genoa, the other two Latin
powers in the Aegean. So now you have one abbreviated chapter at the crossroads of history. Come
travel these crossroads yourself, breathe the aroma of pine-shrouded coves dotting Turkey's
Turquoise Coast, bask under a warm Aegean sun after swimming in its azure sea, join in the
search for a perfect tsatziki, climb to an ancient acropolis re-fortified by these same Knights,
enjoy the luxury of a catered yacht charter in Greece and Turkey. Surely this is the vacation in
Turkey or Greece for which you search. Rare comfort under sun at the crossroads of history. Try
it! You'll like it! Contact us today at
